I believe in involving parents in every aspect of the school year! Below are a few practices I believe in, in regards to parent communication:
- Positive communication is essential; I strive for my first communication with a parent to always be positive! This is especially important when you suspect you may need to contact them with concerns as the year progresses; always start off on the right foot!
- Parents should be updated weekly on what learning is going on in the classroom. I do this through weekly newsletters; below you can see examples of newsletters I have sent home this year.
- Parents should always be given the opportunity to be in the classroom. It is meaningful to students to see their parents in their school environment. I use www.signupgenius.com to organize parent volunteers!
- Parents are teachers too - in order for a child to reach his or her full potential, parents and teachers must work together as a team.
